Our state-of-the-art fluorescence activated cell sorting equipment can sort anything from bacteria to nematode eggs.

The BD Influx is an incredibly flexible conventional, jet-in-air, fluorescence activated cell sorter. It is configured to closely match the BD LSRFortessa (SORP), also housed at the Hugh Green Cytometry Centre, and has six lasers onboard (UV, Violet, Blue-Violet, Blue, Green, and Red), three scatter channels, a small particle detector (2x forward scatter PMTs), and 21 fluorescence channels of detection.


With a wide range of nozzle sizes, the BD Influx can analyse and sort a large range of particle sizes, with the sort set-up tailored to each sample type. A range of collection options are available, with capability of index and up to six-way sorting.  Fully sterilised sorts are also an option. Our team can manage the running of the sorter, and will handle all aspects of the sort aside from sample preparation – the user simply brings their prepared sample, assists in gating set-up, then collects their sorted product upon completion of the sort.

We have experience sorting bacteria, yeast, DCs, T cells, macrophages, mast cells, eosinophils, neutrophils, primary tumour samples, side-populations, gut and skin samples, parasitic nematode eggs, vaginal cells, buccal cells, to name a few. Here we show one example of sorting Nippostrongylus brasiliensis eggs visualised by light microscopy.

The Cytek Aurora Cell Sorter (CS) is designed to leverage the paradigm-shifting technology onboard the Cytek Aurora system and deliver the sorting capabilities expected in a high-end sorter. Like the Aurora, the CS provides the benefits of full spectrum profiling technology. It has five lasers (UV, Violet, Yellow/Green, Blue and Red), three scattering channels, and 64 fluorescence channels of detection over the full emission spectra. Its optical design and unmixing algorithm provide scientists remarkable flexibility, enabling the use of a wide array of new fluorophore combinations without reconfiguring the system for each application.


The state-of-the-art optics and low-noise electronics provide high-resolution, high-content and high sensitivity. The result is a system that delivers high resolution at the single cell level to resolve the most challenging cell populations, such as cells with high autofluorescence or low levels of expression of key biomarkers, regardless of assay complexity, and to isolate live cells for downstream studies.  


This system is not currently available for external use.
